So with tomorrow's game being postponed (and a reported loan expiry of 31st December) then the Barra match could possibly be the last we've seen of Clare?
The Mansfield fans sound less than happy with their team currently (after defeat to York yesturday), and were singing Clare's name in a clear signal to David Holdsworth.
Clare has hit the back of the net nine times for the Heed and proved how effective he is in and around the box. For a small man his hold up play is superb and his link up with the other forwards shows his experience at this level. Two goals yesturday have proven his worth to the team and it's crucial that we try and sign him for the second half of the season.
Is it possible though? Well, Mansfield allowing him to become Trophy tied and appearing to cast him aside earlier in the campaign would suggest so. But with them hitting the buffers yesturday and their fans clear displeasure with the reported long ball game they're playing then will it force Holdsworth to think twice. There is also the fact his goalscoring will be alerting other conference clubs to his worth.
One thing's for sure, he's certainly now clearly in the shop window. I just hope Holdsworth's ego wont allow him to admit his mistake and that Clare wants to come back to us.
As many said leaving Barrow yesturday, keep Clare and Shaw and we have a great chance of staying up!
