Mansfield Town have this afternoon confirmed the signing of ex-Heed loanee Jon Shaw on an 18 month contract.
Shaw who spent last month on-loan at Gateshead only featured the once (away at Barrow) due to injury. In that one match he put in an impressive display, linking up well with Daryl Clare and Ian Bogie was keen to sign the player on a permanent deal. However, we believe the club were unwilling to break the wage structure when it emerged that a bidding war between clubs was forming.
Having been injury prone this season and the Gateshead management only getting to see the player pull on a Heed shirt once, the club will have to turn their attention elsewhere. With experienced goal scorers such as Barry Conlon becoming available, then hoefully there will be further movement in the window soon.
