Third go at Chippenham

Date: Tuesday 19th January 2010, by Tynesider

Ian Bogies nephew Greg TindleGateshead have a third crack tonight (7:45pm) at staging our second round FA Trophy tie against Chippenham Town. Having fallen victim to a snowy International Stadium pitch twice already, the Wiltshire based club set off in the early hours this morning to make tonights tie.

After Saturday's disappointing defeat at Forest Green Rovers, Bogie's men must bounce back and restore some confidence before two massive home games against Luton Town (Sat 23rd Jan) and Kettering Town (Tues 26th Jan). Bogie will have to reshuffle the strating XI with Rikki Bains trophy tied (played for Blythe in this years competition), Carl Jones and Chris Swailes cattle trucked. This will likely mean Darren Williams moving to the back and Phil Turnbull returning in the centre of midfield. It's possible Graeme Armstrong may be brought in up top to partner Daryl Clare.

Chippenham Town include Ian Bogies nephew, defender Greg Tindle in their ranks. The Bluebirds have been out of action due to the weather for over a month (bizarrely keeping in shape by doing kickboxing), and with the Towns proximity to Nailsworth (less than an hour) it's highly likely their management were there on Saturday to cast an eye over our defeat.

Reaching the final of the FA Tinpot Flower Vase in 1999/2000, they've subsequently taken the step up the pyramid getting to the second round of the Trophy once before in 03/04.

The winners of tonight's encounter will be away to either Maidenhead United or Barrow in the 3rd round on Saturday 30th January.
