Fan favourite Carl Jones has had a torrid season with injuries and found him self warming the bench in the last game against Kettering Town.
Jones signed in January 2007 from York City following a successful loan period, arriving with fellow former Hartlepool Utd player Phil Turnbull (also from York City).

(Carl Jones Vs AFC Telford 2008/09 season)
Jones is yet to make a first team appearance following picking up an Injury in Gateshead’s 2-1 defeat to York City back in August 2009. He had to leave the pitch with hamstring problem.
Since then Chris Swailes cemented his place in the centre of the Tynesider’s Defence along side James Curtis where the two big lads created a good understanding with each other.
Although Swailes and Curtis play well together, both will admit there are not the fasted round the pitch, (Swailes more with Age).
Will Carl Jones get his chance this weekend in the FA Trophy game at Holker Street against Barrow.
Jones struggle to get back in the starting line up has been given another body blow by the recent loan arrival from Darlington Rikki Bains.
A few fans believe Bains (a agile and fast defender) and Jones (an athlete defender) would make a good partnership should anything happen to Curtis.
