Harwood Gone But Not Forgotton

Date: Monday 1st February 2010, by Heed Army

Jamie HarwoodThe Heed Army say goodbye and a massive thank you to Jamie Harwood following his release from Gateshead FC.

Jamie made 97 appearances for the Tynesider’s scoring an impressive 30 goals from midfield, many coming from powerful headers. His last goal came against Tamworth in August 2009.

Then manager Tony Lee signed Harwood on loan initially from Worksop Town, after impressing in that loan he was signed permanently.

Jamie (Pictured) was instrumental in helping Ian Bogie’s side to two consecutive promotion from the UniBond Conference Premier.

Sadly this season Jamie was limited to the odd cameo appearances following the summer arrival of wide man Martin Brittain (Currently recovering from a broken leg) and more recently James Sinclair. He also spent one month on loan at Harrogate Town before Christmas.

Harwood has joined Gary Forrest's Shildon. The Northern League side prepare to take On St Ives in the FA Vase this Saturday.

"UPDATE"

We have a Message from Jamie Harwood:

My years at Gateshead have been the best in my football career and the support has been fantastic. The two promotions were great achievements and im proud i was part of it. On a final note just to wish all the lads and the Heed Army all the best and i will keep one eye out for the score on a Saturday.

All the best for the future

Jamie Harwood.

Another departure is that of Irish Striker Darren Forsyth (Pictured Below), Sadly for Darren it never really happened for him in a Gateshead shirt.

After an impressive pre season for the Heed, Forsyth was found wanting when it came to the start of the season, looking lost on his debut against Histon. From that point he was alway playing catch up behind Armstrong, Clare, Richardson, Wake and One in the pecking order.
