DON'T Panic

Pre season is over for Gateshead Football Club, with each fixture complete, but has it been a good pre season??????

Sgt Jones would say DON’T PANIC, yet alarm bells are ringing in the ears of the Tyneside faithful, with the last pre season fixture ending in yet another defeat, this time at the hands of Conf North side Guiseley.

With Pre season looking like this:

Middlesbrough XI 1 Gateshead 0

Workington Reds 1 Gateshead 0

Gateshead 0 Morton 1

Spennymoor Town 0 Gateshead 1

Harrogate Town 1 Gateshead 2

Sunderland XI 3 Gateshead 1

Gateshead 0 Newcastle XI 3
 
And finally  Guiseley 4 Gateshead 1

Goals have been on the rare side for Ian Bogie’s man scoring only  five goals in total yet conceding a massive 14.

Some may argue that a Gateshead XI demolished team Northumbria 5-0 of the Northern league second division  to be a positive result, but the team was made up of fringe players and a few trialists that should be beating a NL2 side.

Next Saturday’s opening league game against Kettering Town will see if the alarm bells are justified or just an over reaction from nervous fans.
