Ian Bogie will be looking for his team to bounce back quickly against Southport following the recent defeats to Fleetwood and Cambridge Utd.
Saturdays 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Cambridge Utd (with former Heed favourite Daryl Clare netting on of the goals) left many Gateshead fans calling for the managers head.
But on reflection and after the dust had settled the realisation that the next two home games against Southport and Altrincham are must win.
Southport have enjoyed a decent start back in the Conference Premier winning three of there six games so far, leaving them sitting pretty in 8th in the table.
With the 4-3 away win to Kidderminster catching the eye in recent results showing Southport are no push over on there travels.
Both John Shaw and James Curtis look set to feature again following there return to action having missed the start of the season through injury.
