Ian Bogie’s search for a new striker continues after bids for both Whitley Bay’s Lee Kerr and Whitby’s Danny Brunskill both being rejected. The bids both believed to have be in the region of four figures for both players was not enough to tempt either club into letting their prize strikers leave for the Conf North newcomers.
Meanwhile a face that has been training with Gateshead is Michael Rea who had a loan spell with the Tynesiders when Tony Lee was in charge. Rea featured in the FA Cup qualifying round 1-0 defeat away to Guisley.
Craig Nelthorpe was a target for both club and fans alike, he would have been a very welcome return to the International Stadium. Craig has been on the book of Doncaster Rover and has come through the ranks featuring briefly in Donny’s first team in the 06/07 season after his stint at Gateshead scoring on the last league game of the season.
It has been reported Craig has accepted another one year contract with Rovers in the football league Championship.
