New signing left back John Brackstone had some big shoes to fill after the goals scoring exploits of last years left back regular Phil Cave who notched up 11 goals last year. But come the hour come the man, Brckstone was that man and on his debut away to Redditch he scored a second half penalty to secure the 2-0 away win.

John, a former Hartlepool United and Darlington player has a reputation of a set piece specialist , with free kicks being a deadly weapon in his arsenal. Hopefully the Heed Army will witness some special goals when the Brackstone steps up for a free kick on the edge of the box.

This is Stephens seconds stint at the club, the first time when he and his brother both joined the Tynesiders on loan from Hartlepool when there had just entered the Hartlepool reserve side.
